A native of upstate New York, Rob began his love affair with St. Croix as an 18-year-old.  It was then that he first visited his grandfather, Steve Regan, who owned the condo at Questa Verde eventually purchased by Rob and his wife, Melinda.  As Rob tells it, “I learned early on that grandfathers get lonely – especially in the months of January and February – and that it’s the kind of loneliness that only a grandson, and preferably the first grandson, can adequately address.”  The willingness to make this supreme sacrifice for his grandfather led to perennial wintertime visits to the Island throughout the 1980’s.

Rob has spent most of his career working as an economic development marketing consultant.  For 18 years Rob served on the staff at Development Counsellors International, a New York City- based firm specializing in helping places around the world – ranging from Barbados to Australia – market themselves for tourism and business investment.  Starting in 1990 as an account executive, Rob advanced to become the firm’s executive vice president and part owner.

Among other career highlights at DCI, Rob counseled and assisted the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce in its public response to the then-worst terrorist incident in American history.  Rob organized national communications for the “Thank You, America” tour, a coast-to-coast event which paid tribute to rescue workers who had assisted in the bombing aftermath.

Rob personally served some three dozen clients during his 18 years at DCI, ranging from Puerto Rico to New Zealand.  He headed up the firm’s media relations activities, helping to solidify DCI’s equity and reputation among the national and international business press.  He has been often quoted on economic development issues in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, CFO, Financial Times and many other business publications, and has appeared on CNN and Fox News, among other media. Before joining DCI, Rob served as speech writer for New York City’s Deputy Mayor for Finance and Economic Development.  He also was Founding Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity in New York and was responsible for recruiting former President Jimmy Carter as a Habitat volunteer.

He and his wife purchased their Questa Verde condo (www.saintcroixcondo.com) in 2004, becoming even more aggressive in their promotion of St. Croix, which Rob characterizes as “The most undervalued Island in the Caribbean.  He sold his partnership stake in DCI in 2008, but continues to consult in economic development marketing and media relations, splitting his time between Tarrytown, NY and his beloved St. Croix.

Sarah is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson as well as a Notary Public. She is a member of the National Association of Realtors. Sarah J. Chitolie was born on the truly American, geographically Caribbean, and historically diverse Island of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. She is the daughter of Allan Chitolie and Josephine Chitolie: two well-known and local business owners of Chitolie Trucking Service for more than ten years.

She graduated from the University of the Virgin Islands with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Accounting and an Associates of Arts Degree in Business Management. She undertakes each and every transaction with a dedicated purpose to fulfill the development of long lasting relationships in the field of work.

Doane Dariah, the last of nine children,  was born and raised in the pristine island of St. Croix US Virgin Islands.  After high school in 1995, Doane attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and earned a bachelor's degree. She then decided to move back home to be close to her parents and to enjoy island living. Doane loves to laugh, swim, write poetry and believes in all things positive. Doane's energetic personality and knowledge of the culture allows her to achieve her goals.

Being new to the Real Estate business, it has not taken Doane long to catch on. She has demonstrated her enthusiasm by going the distance to ensure closure of her deals.

I was born in Miami Beach Florida, shortly before my family moved to St. Croix in 1967. We simply fell in love with this majestic island and never left. I first attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School and then attended and graduated from Country Day School. I made many friends with whom I am still in contact. Growing up on St. Croix was an experience that I wish others could have.  In the mid 1980’s, I left St. Croix to work for the French company Nina Ricci Perfumes, in International Sales and Marketing.   Following that, I lived in Miami for twelve years, raising twins and raising funds for Autism. Two years ago I decided to move back home to be with my family and friends.

 Although I was born in Miami, I grew up in St. Croix and I consider myself to be a Cruzan. I know the people and the island well and I look forward to helping you in any way that I can.   Being a part of The Calabash team has been a great experience for me, and I am very happy to learn from and be a part of Honnie’s team.
